I upgraded my netbook from 5.0 to 5.5 but when I restart, the pc hangs on the initial screen (where you choose the user). Any idea?

Does going to virtual terminals work? E.g. Ctrl + Alt + F1 to go to VT1. Maybe only the graphical interface (X) has a problem.
If not, do the leds react to caps lock? If nothing happens when you hit caps lock, this would indicate a kernel panic or other kernel jam.

I can not access the virtual terminal, and nothing happens when I hit caps lock.

I'm guessing it's a problem with GDM (Gnome Display Manager). You could always install a different login manager like SLiM. Does grub2 show up? if so try using recovery mode or something similar which will give you a bare bones terminal to work with. If this doesn't work you can use a live cd to chroot to your desktop. (PS: I have the same netbook and had some problems with GDM which brought me to SLiM in Parabola).

Now I'd like to find a step by step guide to install Trisquell again.
Here's a guide for 5.0, should be very similar for 5.5.

How can I re-install Trisquel?
I tried to install the 3.0 version from the FSF member card, but the network does not work...
I also tried to copying from the installation CD of 5.0 on a USB pen, but will not start.

Now I'm writing from Trisquel 5.5 on my netbook.
