Hello! I recently got my hands on a Blackberry Playbook from RIM.
Is there any hope of installing free software on this tablet?

Well, I'm not an expert but, it doesn't seem like the Blackberry Playbook uses the x86-64 or the x34 architecture, which lefts out Trisquel as an option. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious. As I said I'm not an expert xD

Is not MIPS either. I looked it up, and I found it uses a ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore microprocessor, which according to the wikipedia is made over the RISC architecture.

In the other hand, I looked for devices with ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore using android and I found a few, so I'll recommend you go to http://www.replicant.us/ and ask over there in the forum. Replicant is a free software base on Android.

I don't think the Blackberry Playbook is listed as supported there, but maybe you could contribute to the project to make it happen in the future. One day with the help of all of us, we will get there.

I hope they can help you and it could be possible. If I'm wrong please correct me every one.
