Have you been a victim of Kernal Panic?

I am having a freshly installed T7 system. Today morning, while it got accedently disconnected from power cord. When I booted the system again I am getting the following message:-

BusyBox v1.21.1(Ubuntu 1:1.21.0-1ubuntu1) built-in-shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built in commands
(initramfs)_

when I typed exit and enter key, I got a kernal panic.

Here is a similar issue posted recently:

https://trisquel.info/en/forum/four-kernel-panics-two-days-3130-40-lowlatency

I had an installation DVD so I re-installed the system :)

What might have gone wrong? Is there any standard way to avoid kernal panic?

A kernel panic can occur for a whole range of reasons, so yours is not necessarily the same as the ones you linked. In your case it looks very likely that because your partitions were left in an unclean state by the power cord removal the system could not recover the xfs /home partition automatically and was dropping you into BusyBox so you could run xfs_check / xfs-repair and fix the situation, perhaps fsck on the root partition too. Exiting before that would cause the system to try and go with damaged filesystem structures when it's assumed you've fixed them - anything might happen, such as a kernel panic.

In the end reinstalling from the DVD is one way to fix the problem. You were just unlucky with what happened and didn't know how to recover.

leny,

Thank you for your suggestion.

Being a newbie, I was not able to properly follow your logic.
Can you explain a bit/Suggest a URL so that I can be more confident with this issue?

In response to the topic's question, no, I haven't.
In my two years using GNU/Linux, I've yet to run into a kernel panic, or any failure that required a restart.
That's not something I can say for a certain proprietary operating system...
