How do I increase the volume level of 1 specific audio file?

Way back in the day when I would still willy nilly install nonfree software programs on my computer I had a program that would allow me to easily tweak the db level of individual audio files. I know that there are people on the net recommending things like mp3gain and such to make whole albums the same volume, but that seems like using a bazooka to kill a housefly. Also, I added the ReplayGain plugin to Rhythbox but it didn't do anything to make the song in an album louder.

I don't want to mess with all of the songs in my playlist, just one.

There's got to be an easy way to simply tweak the volume of one audio file until I feel it is even with the others.

Must be in the Trisquel repo. I'm unwilling to install software not in it.

Thank you!

Try installing Audacity.

As David said, Audacity makes it fairly simple to increase the audio of a file. If I remember correctly, there is a 'slider' to the left side of the track you're editing you can use.
