Trisquel 7 issues: gedit

I've been using Trisquel 7 64-bit (trisquel_7.0-20140708_amd64.iso, 3.13.0-30-generic) seriously for a day or two, and I've been having one or two small problems, but I'll try to stick to one issue per topic.

The most serious is in gedit 3.10.4. If I do copy/paste operations using Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V, the I-bar cursor disappears (every time). I can get it back by clicking on another application window, then clicking on the gedit window again. I don't have the same problem when using the menu commands to do copy/paste operations. This is a big problem when editing program code.

I was unable to recreate the problem in LibreOffice Writer. I have updated the software recently. I have a 1920x1080 display.

Try pluma for now (if you're looking for a workaround, that is)

As for me, I use Leafpad. I'm no programmer though so my text editing jobs aren't complex.

Thanks. I couldn't find pluma but leafpad works fine. No problem with the copy/paste, and the functionality is good enough for programming.

Thanks for the suggestion of Pluma! Mousepad and leafpad are also
options. I wouldn't suggest libreoffice writer for program source code;
it might reformat text, possibly causing problems; in Python,
indentation is part of the syntax.

I wonder if this cursor bug in Gedit is responsible for my issue with
Gedit and the orca screen reader, when using Trisquel 7? When I type
characters, orca loses track of the cursor. Moving focus to another
window, then back to gedit restores orca's ability to read the text
window, until I change something again. When I use another text editor,
such as mousepad or leafpad, I don't see this problem.

There's also Geany in the repos and Brackets: https://launchpad.net/~webupd8team/+archive/ubuntu/brackets

Now bugs can be filed against Trisquel 7.
