Apparently, a comment is necessary.

Maybe this task needs clarified. Do you mean the two panels,(soon the Unity thing) software center, gwibber, me menu etc etc?

I tried to do some script which installs the data for the user only, but it seems not to be possible: most of the backgrounds, sounds and themes need to be installed on root.

Now the problem is that some packages with the ubuntu artwork has been replaced with their trisquel equivalents and are not on the repos. Some of them are even in conflict with packages that we could install from the ubuntu repos. That's the case of ubuntu-sounds: to install that package, it is necessary to remove trisquel sounds package. My solution would be to modify the trisquel packages that they can be installed aside of the ubuntu artwork packages and so re-include them on the trisquel repos.

I think that we should make a package that requires all the ubuntu artwork packages to be installed and, when launched, installs the Ubuntu default configuration for the current user (I mean all the gconf stuff and some other configs like for fonts…), prehaps with a nice gui and a launcher on the System > Preferences menu.

Why would any Trisquel user want to make his/her operating system look like Ubuntu??
