the ubuntu phone advertising makes it look so much like a iphone!

would be a great thing for the libre software community if it
could happen but the chances are there would be a lot of non-free drivers to replace so it might be a while before it was usable with wifi etc
It's a nice fantasy, but it very likely won't happen.
Too much non-free firmware and drivers to muck about with in the mobile world, and Rubén's got enough on his plate.
There's Replicant, anyways.
Replicant is based in Cyanogenmod, this is Android, but all the phones are not based on Android (as the put in Ubuntu).
And what about create a join version of Trisquel and Replicant?.
If there is an Ubuntu smartphone, must be a Trisquel version with it. ;-)
