Tis' the season and the first film is 5 years from public domain, (along with Bela Lugosi Dracula and The Mummy) so there's something too look forward to. You don't see weird films like this anymore especially of those narrative sensibilities. It also helps I know the historical context of the source material, Dracula was inspired Vlad Dracu and S&M and Marry Shelly witnessed experiments with cadavers involving laden jars and invented the Science Fiction Genre and the film had more updated science for the time, it talked about the electromagnetic spectrum and The Mummy was inspired by a fad of the late 19th-early 20th century of grave robbing Pharaohs and having unwrapping parties and giving out burial jewellery as party gifts and the film was made in the wake of discovering King Tut's Tomb and he wasn't really that important of a Pharaoh, he's just famous because that was the last hurrah for that fad.
