U-boot of Thinkpenguin routers

The other day I found this topic on the forum:
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/thinkpenguins-heavily-modified-version-u-boot
And some doubts came to me that I would like to try to clarify.

Do the routers sold by Thinkpenguin use u-boot_mod by Piotr Dymacz (pepe2k)? Even the latest model TPE-R1300?

If so, the user called "tct"; in the comments in the topic that previous I mentioned, said that the developer of the LibreCMC implied u-boot_mod is not 100% free software. So does this mean that Thinkpenguin routers are not 100% free software?

No. It means that the user called "tct" was in the mood for some libre hardware shopkeeper bickering, about six years ago.

Thank you for your response.

I read more carefully the comment you forwarded to me and so we can say that Thinkpenguin routers use U-boot_mod and, being this 100℅ free software, they are too.

Correct me if I'm wrong :)
