So you have the message with all of the headers. Good.

I routinely report spam messages to SpamCop (www.spamcop.net).

Does SpamCop work out? Well, somewhat. I have learnt that in some
cases it worked out, whereas on spam from whatnews.es it seems to have
not effect.

Could you report spam delivered through the forum? Certainly. The
software running Trisquel's forum resends the e-mails to all of the
suscribers *keeping* the original headers, to the e-mail can be traced
to its source. Well, it /could/ be traced to its source in case the
headers aren't forged, but in any case SpamCop won't blame it on
Trisquel's Forum. @Admin: please acknowledge this.

Hope I have been of help to you this time.

I have corrections to make to my last message, hence I am replying
to myself:

That should have been "no effect".

That should have been "so the e-mail can be traced to its source".

But when I wrote that, I was thinking only of the spam sent as
e-mail, as Caleb and me do. I forgot that spam can be introduced
directly to the forum by connecting to it through the website. Spam
e-mails generated that way will appear as if trisquel.info was the
origin, and therefore trisquel.info would be blamed for it.

And... sadly, it is not evident which messages have been introduced
in Trisquel's forum through the website and which have been sent through
e-mail. You can only find that if you check the headers. For instance,
Caleb's original message has a header reading "Received: from
bluehome.net (bluehome.net [96.66.250.149]) by correo.trisquel.info",
so an experienced user could tell it arrived through e-mail.

To sum it up: DO NOT report Trisquel's Forum messages to SpamCop
unless you are experienced enough to check the headers and be sure that
the spam arrived through e-mail. Report spam to administrators otherwise.
