Trisquel 12: Typing with Non English Layout Inside Emacs Doesn't Work

I use two keyboard layouts, English US and Bengali Probhat. Inside Emacs, if I change my keyboard layout to Bengali and try to write something in the buffer, no character appears. Backspace and Enter work. I can read text files written in Bengali, without any issues. If I type C-, those work as expected. Changing the keyboard layout to English works again.

This happens only inside Emacs, for example, if I change my keyboard layout to Bengali and try to write inside Pluma or Gajim, Bengali characters appear as expected.

This problem did not exist in Trisquel 11. I see this after upgrading to Trisquel 12.
