Is the GA-G41-ES2L with Libreboot compatible with the LGA 771 Mod?

Has anybody here with a GA-G41-ES2L tried the 771 mod?
Also 2 sticks of 4GB is pretty expensive and they either say "ecc" or "for AMD". Can I use the ECC Memory on this board even if it's not compatible with the 771 Mod and use it without the ECC functionality?
