Hello all
Is that what is expected?
Thank you for your time.
I mean I didn't get any md5sum file to compare with.
I got an alphanumeric string after typing the command on the appropriate CLI.
But I don't know where to look for the md5sum file to compare with.
Any idea about what coud have happened and about how to solve the problem?
Thank you.
When you download an image, you choose a mirror that then pops up and shows a link to the checksum file.
Here's Sweden's ACC Computer Club (Umeå University).

I just re-read the instructions on [1], and according to that reference,
after the download page ([2]) should automatically redirect you to a
page that has the corresponding hashes.
I also tested this by attempting to download Trisquel 7.0 (all default
options in [2]) and I was correctly redirected to the page which has the
hashes, and it worked both for the direct file download method (.iso)
and with the button that gives me a .torrent file instead.

Thank you loldier for your magic words! :-)
I was aware of what you said but for some unexplainable reason I couldn't find
the link that would allow me to download the checksum file.
After reading your post and visiting the Sweden's ACC Computer Club (Umeå University)
mirror (and thinking that the checksum file that they provide could be different
from the one the FSF's mirror I had used provides) I went back to the FSF's
mirror I had used before and this time found the elusive file which matched with the
alphanumeric chain my CLI had delivered 6 hours earlier...and with the one that your
link to theUmeå University also provides.
I am now completely sure that nothing got stuck on the web
Thank you
:-)
ACC is a mirror, one of many, and they host identical files. It’s kind of the point — a mirror is a server that ”mirrors” the main server. That’s why the checksum will not differ. I gave you Sweden as an example because it happens to be near my location. Your mileage may vary.
Here’s another one in Rumania. Unlike ACC, which uses https, their connection is not encrypted.

You see, their checksum is the same as expected.

Sorry for spending your time.
Because I'm not a regular inhabitant of the digital world I don't allways keep
in mind things I have heard or read before and act foolishly.
Thank you for helping me to build a clear idea from what was a vague notion.
