Welcome! Here's some info

(GNU is the FSF's flag ship as you probably know)

This was probably intended as reply to https://trisquel.info/en/forum/fsf-gets-money-google

I'm not sure that I fully understand. I have viewed so many Richard Stallman videos where he lectures for hours about the ethics of free software and how he is opposed to the methods and goals of Windows and Mac OS's, yet he turns around and openly deals with Google? Google is the LEAST ethical corp on Earth and openly sells our private information for billions. The have utter disregard for human beings and openly destroy any right to privacy. Why would Stallman accept their money? Would he accept Microsoft money?

First of all, you have to distinguish between richard stallman as a person and the free software foundation. Sure he plays a major role in the fsf, still it's different.

Second, you have to clarify what "deals with google" means. The fsf soley accepts money - nothing more.
Who is giving this money or why is not really important, given that it really is just a "present" and the fsf gives nothing in return.
The fact that they list all the patrons is a hint that they play a fair game here.

RMS is ridiculed for not gaining wealth himself and getting rich.

Frankly Richard, I agree. You should be more of a sport. Think of the
benefits you would receive. Look at all your other colleagues that
grew rich while you were splitting these philosophical hairs. Its not
too late! If you "play ball" the establishment can probably still
arrange for a retainer of some type, or maybe even an equity position
in some hot "Open Source" IPO!

Stop torturing yourself with these troublesome ideological positions!
What if a few companies get rich at the expense of the people? It's
inevitable anyway. Capitalize on your "brand name recognition" before
its hopelessly marginalized. Maybe Eric could be your agent! He has
certainly proven himself an adept promoter. Just look at what he has
done for his own reputation. Why, he invented "Open Source"!

Jennifer Helene Maher's Software Evangelism and the Rhetoric of Morality has a chapter 'Moral code' (page 89). FSF's Corporate Patronage Program is mentioned.

Stallman gets 0 (zero, nada, niet) money from the fsf, unlike Sullivan and a bunch of other dudes who, joined, get 1/3 of the fsf's money.

>Most charities have paid staff.

In fact I am considering founding one. 100.000 $ a year seems to me a very good pay.

>Your post seems to imply that these other people are selfish,

I don't imply nothing. I'm not good with implying.
