Descripción

Users with visual disabilities cannot complete the CAPTCHA that is required to create an account on this website. Hence, it is impossible for a user with such disabilities to contribute issue reports to the issue tracker.

Here are a few suggestions instead of a captcha http://textcaptcha.com/really

gNewSense.org uses a text CAPTCHA that stays reasonably effective for a few weeks/months at a time. A few months ago there was a spam attack there, but Samgee changed the questions which fixed it.

If Trisquel.info uses a text CAPTCHA as well, it might have to be changed occasionally since spammers add the questions/answers to their database.

I had recently been changing the configuration of the captcha modules installed to avoid the high volume spammers (and it looked like it had worked, a lot less spam has been found these last two weeks).

But I'd completely failed to notice that our image based captcha didn't have any accessibility features, so it's not really an option; I started looking at alternatives for the site already, so we will be improving that aspect soon. It's relatively hard to find a really good measure against spam because of the actual people hired to solve captchas and register/post spam comments or wiki pages, and because we don't want to rely on antispam services which send queries to a remote system to check if some content is spam or not.

By now, I've switched all image captchas to math-based ones which should be accessible, and I'll keep looking for improvements. BTW, lembas' link is really interesting, I went to that page interested in their method, which is implemented as a Drupal plugin, but I realized their database includes only English language questions so it's not really suitable for us, but their practical approach to "what to use instead of a captcha" is top notch.

There have been over 150 registrations in the past few days. I don't think the match CAPTCHA is helping much at all. Are there any other CAPTCHAs that are available for Drupal?

Grrr... (to the spammers)

There have been over 500 spammers register in the past few days. Can the CAPTCHA be changed back, at least temporarily?
