Unfortunately I bought a 'smart' car (2015 Honda Fit) before I found out about the Free Software Movement. At some point I would like to 'downgrade' this car to something non-hackable. Any advice on cars with minimal technology in them (the less the better)?

Not using a car is not an option for me.

There is this article from edmunds.com: http://www.edmunds.com/car-technology/how-to-buy-a-low-tech-car.html

But I would like to get opinions from people in the community. Thank you!

If anybody is into motorcycles that reek of old times -- check Janus, Goshen, Indiana. These guys have revived the spirit of bygone days.

"I currently drive a '88 Honda Accord"

Yeah, Hondas last a very long time. I have a friend with an 86 accord that has 300,000 miles on it!

"Nobody questions my flip phone either"
lol I'm switching to that next!

"Time to do so with our belongings for a tax-free existence. Freedom from the tax collector is worth the inconvenience."

Sounds like an interesting thread. This one is about low tech cars.

From Switzerland to the Khyber Pass with a Fiat Topolino in 1953

The Way of the World *

In 1953, twenty-four-year old Nicolas Bouvier and his artist friend Thierry Vernet set out to make their way overland from their native Geneva to the Khyber Pass. They had money to last them a few months and a Fiat to take them where they were going

News From Tartary

In 1935 Peter Fleming, an editor for the London Times and, interestingly, Ian Fleming's older brother, set out from Peking for Kashmir. It was a 3500 mile journey across the roof of the world. He chose as his traveling companion Ella Maillart, a beautiful Swiss journalist ;-)

That is awesome!!

Unfortunately I can't afford to potentially brick my car's computer.

A few years from now, when you can pick up one of those cars inexpensively, that is a different story.
