Hello,

I'm trying to install Tor Browser, but I'm getting a 'permission denied' error when I try to run the 'start-tor-browser' command. Same happens if I try to open the '.desktop' files.

I tried to grant execution permissions with 'chmod +x', but the error keeps showing. The same thing happens if I try to install it via 'torbrowser-launcher' package found in Trisquel repository.

I hope some of you can help me with it.

Greetings, JLB.

Hello jlb

Try
sudo chown -R jlb:jlb /home/Downloads/tor-browser_en-US
./start-tor-browser.desktop

I've just downloaded a fresh copy of the Tor Browser from https://www.torproject.org and unpacked it on a relatively fresh install of Trisquel 9, it worked right out of the box.

I'm not sure what's different on your end. How did you download and unpack the software? How did you install Trisquel? Did you change your umask somehow?

You can try downloading the archive again and unpacking it in a fresh spot. In that case, please tell us if that works.

Hello,

After messing around with some configs I made after installing Trisquel I discovered that some mounting options I had set on '/home' partition where impeding Tor Browser to launch.

Anyways, thank you Gnu-Bro and liberpoolesque for your help.
