I am a little bit lost with this post :s... What is the real need ? (PS: if the need is to install Étoilé on Trisquel, I have to admit that I've tried myself, and until now I am out of luck, it simply doesn't work.. but I will test it more when I got the time).

I believe all window managers allow a navigation with the keyboard. For instance, with GNOME-Shell, Alt+Tab allows to navigate between the launched applications, Alt+[key above Tab] to navigate between the windows of the current application and you can easily specify keyboard shortcuts (in the second tab of System settings/Keyboard) to jump to up to 8 workspaces. I always put the same applications in the same workspace (my text editor in the first workspace, my e-mail client in the second workspace, etc.) and I find the navigation pretty efficient.

That said, many power users, who usually hate mice, like to use tiling window managers such as 'awesome', 'i3', etc. Most of them are installable from Trisquel's repositories.
