Hello, is there any printer (without tracking dots) and scanner that works with Trisquel? Scanner is more important than printer just so you know though.

about a month ago i bought a hp officejet 6700 which works nicely, both, with trisquel 5.5 and also with my girly's ubuntu 12.04.
in trisquel i build the most recent hplip though myself.
also for scanning i needed to build version 3.4.2 of simple-scan to have it work properly.

at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/supported_devices/index.html
you can look which model is supported.

what does not work under any GNU/Linux with hp printers as far as i got it, is scan-to-pc, which is not a big deal for me.

well as far as i know, the tracking-dot issue applies only to laser printers, but not to ink printers

h-node.org has lists of scanners and printers that work with Trisquel,
libre.thinkpenguin.com sells printers and all-in-ones that do.

I don't know much about the dots, they probably need special equipment
to be detected, so they aren't known for many devices. However, the
ones I knew about were only colour laser printers, so e.g. monochrome
ones are ok.

I have a CanoScan LiDE 110, it works in Parabola except for the buttons
(which are supported by SANE, I just don't know any programs that can
use them). My printer is Lexmark E120 (mono laser), not expecting it to
be still widely available since I bought it in 2007.
