I have tried to upload two different videos (both in ogg format) to gobblin.se
They make the upload successfuly and the converting process too. But for both I got Copying to public storage failed. {u'keyname': u'thumb'}

What ma I doing wrong? The videos are already in a free/open format, and it only fails to put them in the public storage. Any ideas how to solve this??

I have a similar problem.
After uploading a video I receive the "whohoo, submitted" message, but my video doesn't appear anywhere.
Maybe gobblin.se has problems at the moment?

//edit
oh and now I saw that I got the same error message like you

Hi GNUser, as you can see in the wiki:
https://wiki.mediagoblin.org/User:Joar/mg.wandborg.se

"mg.wandborg.se is hosted on a linode 512 instance and will be online as long as there are no necessary extra costs."
"As of 2011-11-06 22:31 CET the linode 512 plan includes
20 GB data storage
200 GB monthly bandwidth Only outbound"

Due to the recent discovery of the immense power of the government to spy on the world, many people are migrating to safer software and services (including me).
Can it be that the limit (20 GB data or 200 GB bandwith) has already been exceeded?

You can setup your own Mediagoblin server, but look in another alternatives are:

Thanks for the replies.
I notice that other content has been uploaded correctly to gobblin.se so I don't think it is a matter of "running out of space". Could it be something related to the file type? I was using ogg.

Also, I have taken a look at your suggested alternatives elbendecido, but those are "free software running social networks". Not "file sharing" or "video uploading" websites.
Damn, I will try to use another mediagoblin instance but it really pisses me off that they only screw the upload AFTER I spent hours uploading the file (upload is really slow). Oh well...

Also, don't use anonfiles for ogg videos. I tried there too, and AFTER (again) uploading the file, it said "file type not supported, please try again". How about letting me know BEFORE? -.-"

gobblin.se pulls the latest MediaGoblin code regularly, so it's common for stuff to break. You probably can ask the MediaGoblin developers about any problem you have; I did this once, and someone found and fixed the problem a few minutes later (and gobblin.se got the fix next time they pulled the latest MediaGoblin code).

I would have prefered to contact the gobblin.se people, but in their website there is no contact.
I might try what you suggested Onpon4.

gobblin.se's maintainer's contact info is here: http://wandborg.se/contact.html

THANKS! =D
It should be easier to know who to contact in this kind of service (like having a "contacts" link on the homepage lol).
I will try talking to him.

What is even worse is the fact that I try to access the mediagobblin IRC and get a captcha that is nearly impossible to solve -.- I hate captchas!

Tried yet again to upload my video to gobblin.se
This time it was a mp4 file about 7MB size, and it was just the same... uploads, converts, fails.
Meanwhile, other people were able to upload videos to the site, so it is not a matter of "size" or "formats". I emailed joar, the person who apparently runs the website, but until now, no answer. So... yeah, that sucks -.-

Have any of you been able to contact the maintainer of gobblin.se? I have sent him an email, but considering that I am currently using a tor hidden service as mail server, he might not receive my emails (most of these emails accounts are considered spam by the "official" emails services).
If you guys want, you can contact him at name at domain
Let me know if you guys can get it fixed :)

I noticed your video upload, yes, but for me and other people is not working.
Which format, size, codecs, etc, you used?
I already tried with both ogg and mp4, files ranging from 5 to 100 MBs.
The problem is not the upload or the conversion, is at the moment of publishing the link for public, it fails. See above.

that clip is made with kazam (version Kazam - "NX-01") from unstable repo (deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kazam-team/unstable-series/ubuntu precise main ). I changed fps from 15 to 25 and codec to h264/mp4. I also installed gstreamer0.10-alsa.

I don't want to promote non-free software or anything, but before I actually do it by mistake, you all have my sincere apologies.

Perhaps the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/) is a great alternative to YouTube. It has a lot of functionalities which let you change every information about your videos, including the file formats in which it will be made available, and even add the name of the author rather than the name of the uploader.

The Internet Archive accepts videos, sounds, texts, and software (maybe).

Best regards, ADFENO.
Have a nice day.

I thank ADFENO for the suggestion, I thought it would be a good solution... but apparently I can't upload my files, the "non-flash" uploader seems not to work -.-
I am so getting mad at this by now...
