I can confirm that this one works well without the use of non-free drivers. I just plugged it in, it was instantly recognized and was able to connect to my Bluetooth speaker and play muisc without issue.

Good to know, thanks for sharing. I'm not sure if this device is in the h-node database: http://h-node.org/search/form/en but you may want to add it there.

Most of these cheap bluetooth adapters are garbage. I'd be very cautious of them. The percentage of people having problems is significant and the distance (how far away you can get) is also a concern. Many of them also use counterfeit chips which is another issue. An example of a problem that you might encounter as a result of that is you'll have identical mac addresses (* forget if they are actually called that with bluetooth, but it's equivalent).

Thanks for the advisement. So far I have had no issue with the above adapter. I wanted to purchase one from Think Penguin, but the only one available is 2.0. Is there a possibility of a Bluetooth 4.0 adapter being offered through Think Penguin in the future?

Not sure at this time. I haven't seriously looked into it. The reason we are still on 2.0 is because most of the bluetooth adapters are of poor quality, etc. If I feel we can do something newer we'll probably do it though. All I can say is we got the current adapter right, and is a great improvement for us over the last model.

I will certainly purchase one from you should they ever become available. Could you elaborate more on what you mean by counterfeit chips and why they are an issue? That is not something I am familiar with.
