So several people in IRC were mentioning how we could use some backgrounds for the next version of Trisquel. One person had wanted a matrix effect, another a potato...

And my latest, Trisquel Nebula...

Any more ideas for a new background? Or you can share your own. Just remember all resources must be GPL/Public Domain or made from scratch yourself. :)

The potato one made me laugh xD But in my opinion it is the best one from the list :D

Why not use the ones created by mark here --> https://trisquel.info/en/forum/wallpaper-pour-gnulinux-trisquel ?

I hadn't seen Marks (Don't read spanish :P ) his "Image n°1" looks really good.

It isn't Spanish, it's French xD.

I totally loved the Second Image --> http://www.pasteall.org/pic/37643, so much that it is the one that I've been using even on Parabola :D

PS: Still no release date ? I had to switch to Parabola because of the graphical bugs of Mutter and the Nouveau drivers being too old, I'm pretty sure it will be fixed since trisquel is supposed to be based on Ubuntu 12.04.

Wow :D Nice work !

I just want to complain about the fact that it doesn't play nice on a 4:3 screen like mine xD (old stuff is old) :D If you could make the image 10 or 20 pixels do the right it would allow to see the whole text without eating the start of the I :D

How about a few paintings ?

These paintings are excellent.
But as far as a modern OS wall paper is considered we expect something with more resolution, so that there will not be marks like brush strokes.

Why ? don't most paintings show brush strokes ? How do I do a painting without brush-strokes ?

But none of the recent operating system use such paintings as background.

The funny fact is that this is based on an original GNU Wallpaper that you can find here http://www.gnu.org/graphics/wallpapers.html > http://www.gnu.org/graphics/I_run_GNU_by_GNUlancer.png

Jeez most of those are pretty horrible.

I think that text on a wallpaper (generally speaking) looks pretty tacky.

Simple, clean, wallpapers I think work best.

Wallbase is a good place to find high quality wallpapers. The images are original content, so they can be used freely. You can also use it for some inspiration, too. I think their 'landscape' and 'minimalistic' ones are nice. (There is a NSFW section on the site, so be wary):
