Bad YUMI, Good Trisquel

32GB USB, FAT32, YUMI 2.0.9.4, not booting any OS. But another stick with YUMI 2.0.6.9 (2019) works.

I insert USB into Thinkpad x60, Power up and hit F12 for boot choice. It boots into the YUMI loader screen OK but when an OS is chosen it reads;

Booting 'Boot bionicpup32-8.0-uefi'
(hd0)
cannot create a partition with a blocklist of a whole drive.
Error 30: (http://grub4dos.chenall.net/e/30)[deadlink-] Invalid argument

Thinkpad X60 32bit with Linux Trisquel 8 lite. All the OS put on YUMI are x86 - devuanpup 9.7.0-chimera_4.0_i386.iso, bionicpup32-8.0-uefi.iso, debian-edu-11.4.0-i386-netinst.iso

Scanned the 'Integral 32GB USB' and is free of any virus.

I used Win 7pro Thinkpad to create YUMI on USB. It worked OK years ago so 'rinse&repeat'.

Originally I wanted to load a single OS from the stick onto the X60 HD but can only get an old copy of Trisquel 8 to load from DVD.

Any ideas how to make the YUMI loader work ? Or a single 32bit Linux OS install on my X60 ?

Oh good you made it, and looks like you've been a forum member here for awhile. I was searching through the forum for any thoughts on YUMI, but I didn't see that any Trisquel users had much experience with it. Do you still have the stick with the working 2019 version of YUMI available?

Hello. Yes I have the 64GB 2019 USB stick with YUMI. It has;

lupu-520.005
xenialpup-7.5-uefi (with persistence)
bionicpup32-8.0+7-uefi
Zorin-OS-12.4-lite-32
slacko-6.3.2-uefi
squeeze-5.X.3.6.2.1-SCSI

It's still working/loading fine. But the latest USB won't load the ISOs. It stores data, read/write ok but won't boot OSs.

So the problem is with the latest update of Yumi. Have you tried Ventoy instead? I used that recently, it was able to boot multiple different ISO's on most systems I tried it on. I think Ventoy is kind of the new Yumi, if you like that kind of multi-boot usb stick.

Ventoy is now working on the stick with slax and bionicpup. Although devuanpup and debian iso fail. Lots more to try...

Have you seen GNUinos? It's a libre version of Devuan, which is kind of cool. I think there's a couple of people on this Trisquel forum that are using it now: https://gnuinos.org/

And there's a new alpha/beta ISO for Trisquel 11 which should be some fun to play with: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/testing-iso-trisquel-11-0
Apparently it can run as a live ISO.

Great to see a new libre distro released. Is it FSDG-compliant?

Wow, that was fast! I'm still siting on Trisquel 9 :P

I think you need to start coming back here and posting daily/weekly again like you used to, and then you'll be more motivated to try out the shiny new stuff.

>"Is it FSDG-compliant?"

I will ask the developer.

It would be nice if you would tell us who you are bashing for not saying GNU/Linux. Instead of just randomly tossing it out there like a stinky turd.

Probably the OP I think, but it's strange to randomly reply to a weeks-old thread with this.
