Hey guys,

A friend gave me a bluetooth speaker and I wanted to use it with my Librebooted T400 running Trisquel 8. I notice the light indicator of bluetooth is always on in the T400 display, but I don't know which software should I install to detect and use the speaker.

Also, I wonder if a device such as this could use it's connection to the computer to inject some kind attack? I know that when connected to a smartphone it has keys to change to next music on youtube and such. Is it safe to use these devices?

Thanks.

its using a standard bluetooth protocol for audio. so i would like to
think the software is fairly robust. like plugging in a usb flash drive.

check gnome settings for bluetooth. the pair it and in sound settings
select it for output device/thingy.

I am using Trisquel 8. I have mate and I had to install pulseaudio-module-bluetooth. You should have a connected device when the white Bluetooth symbol turns green. You probably will have to setup the device using the bluetooth-applet, I think it's available by default in Mate's panel. Also, use mate-volume-control to change the device you get sound from.

Thnaks. Your replies pointed me in the right direction. I had to install "blueman" to get the graphical interface going but it took care of all the things needed to make the connection work. I am very pleased. Thanks!
