Can you please help a new Trisquel user out in this thread ?

Hi, new guy here and its nice to meet all of you.
As mentioned, i am completely new, but i have a little bit of experience with other Linux distros, so installing Trisquel 7.0 LTS Belenos via 1.5GB Live DVD iso image was not a difficult task as it looked very similar to the Lubuntu setup and other ones i have.
The issue i will describe is a Firmware issue i believe, and the term Firmware is new to me also (insert blushing emoji here).
After installation, i was able to use Trisquel. Upon reset i got a Firmware error spamming me and the desktop would not load, Trisquel is not currently installed so i cannot give the exact error message.
With this little information provided, can anyone assist me ? I guess my question is, what do i need to do differently other than pop the DVD in and install ?
Is it installed, or not? You first say you installed Trisquel, but then you say Trisquel is not installed.
Do you have an intel wifi?
@onpon4 yes, i installed it and uninstalled it so it is not currently installed.
@lembas i think i have an intel wifi, i have a wifi that i can connect to anyways, but i am connected via wired connection at the moment.
Well then, i will say this is a very confusing distro comparatively speaking.

it appears that this distro is for programmers only any regular use is impossible.
It could be a number of issues from what you described.
Could you download & install Trisquel again?
If your download of Trisquel was corrupted or some such thing, doing that will get you a fresh copy to install.
If your issue was something a little more severe, re-installing will allow you to tell us the error so that we can help you.
So if you get an error again, please write it down or take a picture so you can tell us the error.
@JadedCtrl Hi, i used the direct download link not a torrent link to download
Trisquel, but this is not to say that there is no problem with the download.
i have the time and it might be helpful if i write down the exact error
message, what do you reccommend ? the same download or should i try the light
version/ sugar ?
Just because you used a direct download doesn't mean your download cannot be corrupted. The Internet can be finnicky.
You should try the same download, penguin.

I, too, am a new Trisquel user. A few days ago I've had some technical
problems, and I've had the same thought: "this distro is for programmers
only".
In spite of the fact that I am not a computer programmer, I want to support
this project and try to learn how to use this operating system.
By the way, I found a lot of people ready to help me in this forum, and I
take this as an opportunity to learn something about computers.
This sentiment is nonsense, and I don't know where it comes from. There is
nothing about Trisquel that makes it particularly appealing to programmers.
Trisquel doesn't include proprietary firmware blobs, which are required for
Intel wireless cards to work. The solution is not difficult, it just costs
some money: you need to buy new hardware (in this case, just a USB wireless
adapter will do, and you can get those from Think Penguin[1]).
If financial circumstances prohibit this solution, you may have to settle for
a distro that includes proprietary software. No one reasonable will judge you
if you do this, though for your own sake, you should try to get hardware that
respects your freedom more next time.

I am not so sure what is going on here with all of these double posts, for a moment there i wasnt able to access the forums even, i guess i am trying to say that im not making these posts :)
@Mario Yes, I agree with you, especially because i have the time, I have no problem downloading this again and learning from all of this.

I have done quite some distro hopping and Trisquel is by far the simplest, easy to use and very user friendly distro ever.
So, when you say that Trisquel is for developers you are completely wrong.

well regardless this forum is not operating correctly at the moment so maybe i will wait to try and download this again.
@JadedCtrl Yes very finnicky ;)

Tell us the exact error message. Another reason to use the bittorrent protocol is you can't get a corrupted download with it as every piece is checked in the process. (Unless the original is corrupted, of course! :D )

I did try to install it again to see if i could reproduce the error, or see if it would work this time around and what happened was that it wouldnt even install this time. If i try to get another install it will be via torrent, i will keep you posted.

Why wouldn't it install? Was there not enough space on your disk, etc, etc? What error did it tell you?
When selecting "Try Trisquel 7.0" rather than "Install Trisquel 7.0" after booting the Live USB/CD, does the desktop work as expected?
You can't be helped, penguin, if you don't tell us what exactly errors are displayed on the screen, as little or as much information it shows.
lol, it was a disk space error
if i try to install it a 3rd time i will let you know, but i feel uncomfortable on these forums so that alone will keep me with this other distro.
i appreciate the few replys that were made with love, these will be noted :)
> i feel uncomfortable on these forums
Erm, why? Nothing anyone has said to you was threatening or even rude.
In fact, to be perfectly frank, you have been rude by saying that Trisquel is "confusing", that it is "for programmers only", and that "regular use is impossible", when we all know by experience that Trisquel is one of the most beginner-friendly distros out there. All this based on the fact that you had a problem that you refuse to diagnose properly. My mother uses Trisquel as her only system, and she's not a programmer. She would tell you that she knows nothing about computers.
I can think of a lot of communities that would be much less patient with someone who makes derisive comments like that.
bottom of the barrel bro
first you are one of the reasons i feel uncomfortable on these forums.
second the double post thing is a reason i feel uncomfortable
third i said and I quote "it APPEARS" its for programmers and regular use is impossible
cool story about your mom tho bro
logging out now.
bye bye
