Hey,

I have a popcorn hour a-100. It's a media player that can, apparently, connect through cable (rj45, or ethernet) to a network and play files that are shared in that network.
I have connected the laptop to the player (directly, cable from laptop to player) and installed samba and nfs-kernel-server. Tried using dhcp automatic, tried mannually configuring ip, but still neither trisquel or the popcorn hour can see each other.. Tried with 2 different cables, that I know are in perfect condition.

Any idea how to connect my laptop to this laptop, so I can share a folder and have the player play files from it??

Thanks!!

I read a review of this device and the person reviewing it said they could not get it working with gnu/linux if they used the samba file system for network sharing and it worked when they switched to NFS so maby you can change it in the settings?

I've tried with NFS only, later installed SAMBA too. Couldn't get it to work.
I never used any kind of cabled network so I am really in the dark here. I guess I won't get it to work anyway... :(

dose anything show up in gnome disks?
or in browse network in the file manager?

also if you know its IP address on the network you could try using nautilus to connect to it directly and specifying the protocol
