Living without a mobile phone, I've been missing having a camera in my pocket. It looks like point-and-shoots that fit in the pocket are becoming extinct, and they expect you to just buy a smartphone for that type of camera.

What am I supposed to do?

I'm looking for a camera that has no internet "features" and no firmware to update.

Hi Caleb,

It's great that you were able to get rid of your phone. I will be
needing one for the foreseeable future, sadly.

About the camera, my parents used to have a small Sony CyberShot, no
anti-features I could find.
I found a listing for this one from Canon, don't know if it fits in a
pocket, maybe a small bag:

There is a free firmware for many Canon cameras: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

Lots of Canon Powershot cameras should fit in the pocket I would think. It appears that many of the different Powershot models are on that CHDK wiki, appears that some of them work with the free firmware.

Any compact digital camera from 15 years ago should be fine. I have a Canon PowerShot G10, it is by far not the most compact camera and it has a lot of settings, but it can be used in a fully automatic manner. I never did any firmware update and it has no internet feature at all.

Besides, Android phone vendors may add something requiring an internet connection at first, but if you have a device on which you can install LineageOS, it should work without any connection and without doing any udate ever.
