Does anyone know which driver is used when Trisquel is installed on a Dell laptop (Inspiron 1501 w/ Broadcom)???... On Ubunutu/Mint I preferred the STA over over the older B43 driver and I wanted to make sure that one was installed, and if not, how to change it... I do not know how to check; I do not see an "additional drivers" setting as in Ubunutu/Mint.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

That's because "additional drivers" is their euphemism for "non-free
drivers". We include all the free software drivers available.

My wireless card requires non-free firmware "blobs" in the kernel to function. A solution is to purchase an insertable wireless card - considerably more of them work with free software compared to internal ones. They also, at least the ones in the stores near me, tend to not be particularly expensive.

Same here. I have a dell inspiron 1545, and I had to build the driver from
source with non-free drivers:
http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php
I decided to do it because, although it's not free, I had access to the
source somewhat. Not pushing in that direction, however.

Thanks guys. The wireless is working fine, I was just wondering how to identify the driver, etc... Just trying to become as proficient in linux as I am in windows.

I know the Ubuntu drivers were "free" to me, albiet "proprietary" and closed source.

Thanks again for the help... Trisquel is great...

I will confess I installed flash aid to watch hulu, comedy central, etc...
