In cany case, software can have bugs while it is easy to see if a sticky note is opaque and if it obstructing the camera.
This simply demonstrates that the camera's firmware can be modified via USB, but doing so requires that the program for doing so must first get on to your computer and start running. The best defense against such risks is to avoid using software from third parties you don't trust. Even free software can't protect users from making poor choices such as using untrustworthy software or ignoring security best practices.
