In summary the speaker continues to reject appimages and
snap. The speaker now endorses flatpak also in terms
of security. On security he compares flatpak on level with common
gnulinux distributions.
Snap is a nonfree third party repository, and I recommend you dont use Youtube because run nonfree/spyware in your computer, instead use Invidious. See a example: https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=4WuYGcs0t6I
The distribution of the GNU operating system that are under the Free Software Distribution Guidelines: https://www.gnu.org/distros/free-distros dont use any nonfree repository included App Image or Snap. Flatpak isn't repository, but can connect to a nonfree repositories like Flathub that are completly unacceptable to the goal of have the control of your own computing.
Well, yt-dlp can download videos from youtube and is free software. Does it require running non-free javascript software? I find that invidious also uses googlevideo.com. I could be wrong, but is that not a free dependency?
EDIT: I guess the problem with youtube is not every video works with yt-dlp and librejs says googlevideo.com does not have any non-free javascript.
I dont see the problem of run free software to see videos available on Internet without running nonfree programs.
Oh, nevermind. I thought I would share my experience with the yt-dlp and my problems with what I thought was invidious. I guess I was just a little excited.
This is my two cents.
When using Invidious, go to Preferences, enable Proxy videos and save.
Connections to googlevideo.com will disappear.
