I am not able to get gcc-4.7 in trisquel taranis (newer version of trisquel don't work on my laptop)
Updating does not update gcc.
Method found on ubuntu using a ppa repository don't work on it either
I guess if there is no way to use gcc-4.7 it in trisquel I will need to use another distro.

According to the Ubuntu packages site [1] Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal has GCC 4.7. Trisquel 6.5 will be based on Quantal.
If you don't mind a terminal-configured, bleeding-edge OS then Parabola GNU/Linux might be better for you. [2] :)

How come?
Version after Taranis: can't wake up my laptop after suspend.
(Same thing with Ubuntu after 10.04)
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8600
I don't want to use a newer laptop because newer laptop are considerably inferior to this one purchased around 2004. My laptop has a 1900 x 1200 resolution, something unheard for virtually all current laptops.

Thanks.
I am busy with something else now but will try it as soon as I have time in the next few days (or week) and let you know if it worked.
While you are here, I have another issue: I have a belkin wireless usb adapter (model f7d2102). It works beautifully in windows xp even across many walls.
It unfortunately does not work at all on older linux and I tried it on fedora where it works for about 10 seconds than asks me to reconnect (which it then rarely is able to) even when I am directly in front of the base!
Any ideas or useful link for this very strange problem?
Debian testing also has GCC 4.7: http://packages.debian.org/testing/gcc
