Hello, I want to share my videos in a youtube style. Could you recommend me a webpage about that?
is https://goblinrefuge.com good for me?

Yes, Goblin Refuge is a great option!

That site looks like it was created by a middle schooler learning about the internet in 1997.

Just use YouTube via video search in duckduckgo or VLC if you don't like the site.

It hardly looks that bad. Just because it doesn't have all the flashy,
proprietary JavaScript-laden social media integration bells and whistles,
doesn't mean it doesn't serve its purpose well. It exists for the hosting of
media. It does so, in a beautiful, free format, laid out in a website with
valid HTML and CSS only, a sensible directory structure, and a decent design. I
see nothing wrong with it whatsoever, and take issue with your advocacy of the
proprietary mess that is YouTube, and by extension the abusive, totalitarian and
parasitic organisation Google. I would use Goblin Refuge any day.

I do use YouTube- merely because there are many resources that I simply would
not be able to get to outside its confines, and even so, I have castrated it
with LibreJS and HTML5 video. From a quick browse of Goblin Refuge, I love the
place already- and I could actually create an account without proprietary
JavaScript. I would be proud to host my video on a site such as that. Alas,
without corporate backing, it will never become more than a niche field.

To soften the impact: MATE FTW!

YouTube is full of information, we need and already have a number of ways to obtain that information without running proprietary JavaScript (or even better, without running any JS). But there's no way to bypass the proprietary JS at creating an account and uploading a video. So that's enough reason to not upload more information there.

@t3g: It is important to understand the philosophy behind many projects that incorporate the ideals of libre before being critical and then promoting an alternative (youtube) that is the complete opposite in terms of purpose and philosophy. Be kind to those who work to promote our freedoms and Goblin Refugee is one of these agents. The solution you recommend is also incomplete, if one would like to use a video sharing site to share videos they would need to make an account and begin to upload data to the site's server(s).

Yea, Mediagoblin is probably your best bet if you want a site with only libre JS and such.
Mediagoblin is a little feature-lacking in comparison to Youtube though, and less popular.
I use Goblinrefuge myself, and it's a good server.

You guys suggest YouTube? I thought Google products are evil? :-/ I'm confused. What Google products aren't evil - curious?

I don't know why he recommended YouTube. It's impossible to even create an account without proprietary JavaScript code, and I don't think you can upload videos without proprietary JavaScript code either.

Yes, the Internet Archive -- https://archive.org/ -- you can upload via
FTP and either link to the upload (or any of the derivative files the
site generates for you) directly by using the download.archive.org-based
URL. This is particularly important if you want to make a webpage that
refers to the video hosted there in an HTML5 video element. You can also
link to a page hosted at archive.org.

As far as I know there's no Javascript requirement to make an account or
submit to the site, or (in your case) use the site, so therefore there's
no non-free Javascript requirement.

Are any of you familiar with Plumi? It's Plone-based server software for video-hosting sites. It's licensed under GPL (probably should be AGPL but...):
http://blog.plumi.org/

It was created in 2007 to run engagemedia.org (Australia-based activist video-hosting site) but there are a number of other sites already using Plumi for their own purposes:
http://blog.plumi.org/sites-using-plumi/

They still need to tag their scripts for compatibility with LibreJS, but no doubt that's underway (or soon will be).
