The left, right, and backspace keys don't work in GNU Cash.
This problem from 2010 looks similar:
I can use left, right and backspace keys in GNUCash

My mistake. I wasn't using the one from the repo.
Oh -- I wish that gnucash.org had a .deb file. I don't think that I have built a program from source before.
I'll file a bug report lembas

Try using GNU Gsrc
https://www.gnu.org/software/gsrc/
Thanks Sachin, I'll check this out
Now bugs can be filed against Trisquel 7.
Thanks, I filed a bug report
The problem relates to the input method. Disabling IBus (that runs by default) fixes it (after a disconnection/reconnection from/to the graphical session):
$ echo 'export XMODIFIERS=@im=none' > ~/.xprofile
Thanks MB!
Do I need IBus for other things?
Depends on what languages you want to type in. If you're just typing in English and other languages based on Latin script, then no. But if you want to type in a language like Chinese or Japanese, you need some kind of input method to do it well.
