Isn't gnuinos free software? If so why is gnuinos not on
the list? Thanks.

The list of fully free distributions isn’t just a catalog of all distros that happen to be free; it’s a list of those that have actively chosen to participate by asking to be reviewed, and most importantly, making a formal commitment to follow the GNU Free System Distribution Guidelines (GNU FSDG).

This commitment includes not just ensuring freedom initially but also agreeing to correct any issues if mistakes are found in the future. That level of agreement and accountability requires active collaboration with the distro maintainers. The FSF can't just go around listing distros arbitrarily - that would risk misrepresenting the relationship and the expectations of compliance.

So, a better question might be: have the Guinos developers expressed any interest in being listed and making that formal commitment with the FSF? If they're willing to do that then the developers should start write to webmasters @ gnu.org to request to start the process because the developers are the only ones that can make that formal commitment for the project, not the users.

You can bookmark this page if you want to keep an eye on incoming distros:

Other than GNUinos, Freenix and Uruk are also awaiting review it seems.

Although Uruk looks dead and Freenix does too...

Not quite. That page does not say that gnuinos is "awaiting review".

Gnuinos is not even listed as having requested consideration for endorsement.

How peculiar

Absolutely not peculiar at all.

As things stand, gnuinos is a one-person project. If we read the FSDG fully, we can easily understand why applying for endorsement is not as straightforward as selling second-hand stuff on ebay.

No its peculiar because I thought he was already seeking FSF endorsement. I guess I was wrong.

You should ask him if he tried. I think it was the Freenix developers who tried for about 6 years recently but appear to have given up because the FSF did not have any employees to push the application along and it just sat in limbo.

Apart from gnuinos are there other software systems saying they are free software and not on fsf.org's list of free software systems?

See https://divestos.org/pages/faq#proprietary. That said, for Android devices that are easily usable (devices on which Replicant is supported become more and more difficult to use), this is probably the most deblobbed one.

for some reason they use google play still, someone should mention aurora store to them. I use it and it installs updates correctly for specific devices.

This being said, I long for the day when something like lineageos or grapheneos becomes how android phones are by default. Meaning degoogled even if not fully free.

I trust google security more than samsung and other android stuff, but that is such a low bar.

Microsoft for example is the worst and google is somewhat better, that is pathetic on microsoft's part.

Again low bar.

privacy invasive garbage should not be trusted for anything sensitive though.

That's how I feel about this anyhow.

Probably HyperbolaBSD will be one eventually. They could use funding, but they are still moving forward albeit slowly.

They have few devs you see.
