A year ago, after verifiying that the SlimeVR[1] software is free as in freedom, I backed the project.
Currently none of the libre-licensed VR games is known to support Full-Body Tracking, and much more work is needed
to integrate SlimeVR into Monado[2] and Libsurvive[3]. The first libre game to support SlimeVR will be BeepSaber[4],
a clone of BeatSaber written using the Godot Engine. Remember that GNU stands for Godot Not Unity in this context.

Next is getting the SlimeVR trackers working with those four libreVR environments, only playing Godot Not Unity games while avoiding Steam. Lighthouse tracked already works with the Talos II, but more work fixing bugs needs to be done.

For the Homebrew VR components I have the Respects Your Freedom Certification in mind, I will announce them at LibrePlanet 2024: Cultivating Community. Currently the are only a few libre VR games, first I'll port those written by Holger Dammertz (alias NeoSpark314), then I'll try V-Sekai, a VRChat clone. On the weekend I'll prepare a session for LibrePlanet 2024: Cultivating Community. For LP2023 my talk "Gaming on a Talos II, how a avoid using Steam" got rejected. Anyway I plan to do several livesteams, even one on the LibrePlanet Saturday, even if my talk gets rejected again. (probably in the morning - Berlin time, before LP starts)

I hadn't heard of any of this before you posted it so thank you ! It helps give me a renewed sense of confidence and optimism in libre gaming knowing that there are projects trying to tackle this stuff.
