I have withheld posting this, thinking that time would fix my YouTube compatibility- it hasn't. Looks like I got a good 3 days of youtube working, since 3 weeks or more it's been down. "OK", I say, "I'm used to problems, after all, they are left and right in GNU/LINUX,I'll just get around this by installing Greasemonkey and that nifty download script for YouTube". Well greasemonkey installed fine, but when I click on the install button in the dialogue for any install script, I just wait, and after minutes or more, nothing happens...

what did i do wrong?

I've had this problem before. Try clicking the view source button, then install and wait until it says 'x installed!'

Which version of FlashVideoReplacer do you have? I have 2.1.14 and it works fine on Web Browser.

I fixed it by installing 2.1.14 from the trisquel extensions page, at least for now...

I should have mentioned that I downloaded FlashVideoReplacer from the developer's website:
http://www.webgapps.org/add-ons/flashvideoreplacer/download-firefox.
Whenever Youtube doesn't work I check there to see if there is a newer version.
