hi
i want change main-menu in trisquel6(alacrate) and use gnomenu 2.9.1
how do i do this?
tnx
default application launcher
GnoMenu doesn't exist in Trisquel 6 repositories.
Can't you make it work by just installing it through its PPA?
Yes
I downloaded and successfully installed the Debian package
But I do not know how to config(gnomenu)
There's an applet called Main Menu in System Settings; that doesn't do what you want?
@Dave_Hunt:
"alacarte" is the software behind "Main Menu".
@Milandini:
It seems that there is a huge misunderstanding. Alacarte (Main Menu) is a menu editor which can be used for editing menu entries but GnoMenu is intended for replacing the menu itself.

Please just tell me how to replace default main menu of trisquel6 with
gnomenu?
You can modify the Panel with Super+Alt+Right-Click on it. If you do that just to the left of the Notification Area the menu that pops up will include Add To Panel as would have been used to add Gnomenu to Gnome 2. Whether it will work if Gnomenu is still built for Gnome 2 I don't know.
tanks leny2010
but does not work
There was no gnomenu applet
Bad news I'm afraid. Because of the age of Gnomenu I pulled the
source to check the Gnome 2 applet status suspicion I mentioned
earlier. Sadly it is a Gnome 2 Applet, this is very likely the
reason it doesn't show in Trisquel's [Gnome 3 Fallback] Add To Panel
chooser.
You're right in your other post to think Gnome 3 Shell won't work
with ATI/AMD cards on Trisquel because there is no free software 3D
driver for them.
Hmm... as leny2010 mentioned there should be an applet:
http://www.ihaveapc.com/2011/03/gnomenu-an-alternate-menu-for-gnome-desktop-in-linux-mintubuntu/
It may only be available in gnome3 default mode (not gnome3-fallback with gnome-panel)
@g4jc:i have install gnome-session and gnome-shell
But it show an error message when Lgoin to gnome3
(Error Message:failed to load session "gnome")
i think it is related to hardware 3d accleration(ati4670)
You may install Mate-Desktop 1.4 and Tilo-menu 0.2 (which is a fork of GnoMenu to Mate).
MAte 1.4 here: http://forums.mate-desktop.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1622
I made a orb for this also: http://trisquel.info/en/forum/trisquel-orb-tilo-menu-or-gnomenu
