Is there a way where I can have two monitors have different backgrounds in Trisquel?

Install nitrogen. It works.

Search "nitrogen" in Synaptic or via Terminal.

sudo apt-get install nitrogen

then you open it with Alt+F2 or Terminal: 

nitrogen

and add the images directories in "preferences".
