Hello,

my next problem seems to be the monitor. I can't see videos. I here the tone but no video. Does anybody have an idea or would the answer be that the driver is proprietary?

Any videos or some particular video? How are you trying to watch them/it?

VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RS780L [Radeon 3000]

I did not try all kinds of videos. Youtube does not work, *flv. I'll test the different formats during the next days und let you know. Thanks for now.

ati video card? Trisquel 7? I guess you have also a screen resolution something like 1024*768 .. Yes?
Ati cards require non free firmware for video acceleration. I guess your problem is caused by the video player you are using (like totem or vlc) set to use the wrong outpout driver (I think the default is xv). If that is the case try setting X11 as the output.
In VLC it is: tools -preferences - video - output - X11
