Hey all,

Is it possible to install Trisquel without an internet connection? I am installing in text mode, and it says that it needs to have an internet connection. This computer does not have an ethernet card in it.

Thanks,
GrimLok

There doesn't seem to be an option not to use it though.

In text mode? Are you using the net installer? That does require an internet connection. The live CD doesn't.

I made it from my current installation from the iso using startup disk creator.

I remember having the same issue... I think you can "force" the installer to go on without internet (I had to keep choosing the other options time and time again).
Sorry, but it has been a long time and don't remember the specifics :S

Hmm... do you think maybe searching for the way to do it in Ubuntu may work?

Explain something: why do you use text installer? The graphical installer does the job with no problem. what exactly you need? :)

The graphical installer hangs up and just gives me a blank screen, I figured the text installer would tell me why. Plus, I like the traditional installers anyways. I just don't understand why it defaults to going out to the internet to get installation files. That is a flaw to me. If you want to get updates, you update AFTER the installation in my opinion.

Are you sure it's the correct iso? How bit was the file you downloaded?

Anymore suggestions about this?

Not sure man... Have you checked the ISO file and the burned CD? Check the integrity maybe the CD got a bad burn... Happened to me before :P

I installed using the normal mode (Live CD >> Use installer from desktop) and it works offline. It should be possible with text mode too, just skip the part that asks to configure networking and make sure it's unplugged from the internet.

There is no option to skip though...

Confirming. :(

English >> Text Mode >> Language >> Location >> Detect Keyboard Layout >> Layout Type >> Detecting network hardware >> Continue >> Hostname >> Continue >> Choose Mirror >> Leave Blank for Proxy >> Error Bad Mirror >> Stuck in loop... (Should allow you to skip)

Someone should open bug ticket against this, it is possible to install in GUI so it should be possible in text mode.

Did you guys try the expert install option?

(Might warrant a bug nevertheless.)
