intel pc mainboard better for libre software than amd?

From another post I got the impression intel mainboards are preferable on libre software.
I have an atx amd desktop from about windows 7 was released. Because the build in graphics card is amd, debian 8 64bit main does not work well. I got an geforce 8400gs pci graphics card for the computer. I would say the pc works well.
If I want to buy a new atx mainboard, is it better obtaining an intel mainboard?

I would say yes: Linux perfectly handles Intel graphics, without any proprietary software. And Intel graphics are great in some areas such as video decoding.
