Apparently one of the Coreboot dev groups has gotten coreboot running on an actual current, in-production model of motherboard for current Intel processors: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Coreboot-Start-ADL-MSI-Dasharo

If it works, this could be a bit of a game-changer. Not fully free like libreboot, but I don't know if we've ever been this close on a current Intel system.

Motherboard looks kind of stylish.

Quoted in the article: "We looking for feedback".

Feedback: this should read "We are looking for feedback".

Appart from that, I am still looking for the trick, or is it those "relevant Intel FSP binary blobs"? Anyway, that would already be a jump forward from my current blob stuffed BIOSes. I have decided to cancel ordering a heavily discounted, refurbished notebook because one cannot even get it OS-less, which is a shame. Maybe time to start my own refurbishing + freeing workshop.

This one looks pretty sweet - about $1000 for a very nice new corebooted laptop: https://system76.com/laptops/galago

I'll bet my next major laptop purchase will be with these guys.
