which website do you want to play flash on? Flashvideoreplacer doesn't work for all of them. I'm not sure if you need the gnash plugin installed and enabled, but it won't hurt to have that. Then get yourself the newest version of Flashvideoreplacer, from here for example.

Youtube works with it, many other sites don't. However there is still a plugin left: Unplug can literally unplug the video file from the website and let you watch it in a separate window/tab, or at least download it. Together those two add-ons cover a good amount of stuff, but still not ALL videos out there, like screwattack.com or gametrailers.com (I think the latter one works sometimes with unplug). For the rest, Web Browser automatically falls back to gnash and if that doesn't help, you're out of luck.

I'm sorry as you are that not all of the videos on the web can be viewed without flash. I guess we just have to hope HTML5 will become the standard soon.

The iplayer is the BBC replacement for the old Realplayer streams, The flashvideoreplacer plugin author states that it does not support realtime streams at the moment, so it would seem the iplayer is a definite no-go.

Some sites are supported and some unfortunately are not. See the user manual Play Videos Without Using Flash for more information. Some sites such as youtube are actually making it easy for Free Software users to watch video through the use of free formats like webM. Others we have little workarounds like the flash video replacer extension.

It appears the BBC has put DRM in it's iplayer since 2007 and the FSF has protested this. This is really unfortunate for users who don't want to be dependent on Adobe and one companies program to run the internet.

If I had to guess the iplayer is similar to netflix streaming here in America. It allows users to stream movies and television shows. I would love to use their streaming service but unfortunately it suffers from the same problem and requires DRM to use. Their service offers a lot entertainment wise but DRM is something I am not willing to compromise on personally. I don't like it when a company tries to lock out it's own customers. And I am a customer and I rent their DVD's (which can be watched with libdvdcss) but refuse to stream online.

If I were in your shoes I would contact the BBC and tell them that you would love to use their service but they are preventing you from doing so. I may be incorrect here but I believe in England the BBC is a publicly funded organization. I disagree especially with publicly funded organization's using technology to lock users out.

I hope you keep using Trisquel as we would love to have you as part of the community. I don't know that much about the iplayer because I'm American. I don't know what it offers in terms of video but it appears the BBC has a youtube channel which may offer some of the content you want to watch.
