Just to start off if you are at all concerned about privacy you should not be using facebook.
If you are concerned about privacy I would recommend using OTR for IM encryption, GPG for email encryption, and full disk encryption which is included in the distro. Tor can be added on for anonymity if you wish.
In the USA you here all this talk from politicians how we need a privacy policy and stuff like that for the internet. IMHO that is bullshit. If you watch any of the tor videos they have a pretty good point.
Privacy needs to be built into the technology. You can't depend on
"We promise you we won't look!" "Ok, we looked we promise you we won't remember" "Ok, we remember, we promise you won't tell"
