Hi all!
There is any way to see comments by the owner of the videos?
When i do c x (where x is a number) there only appear comments by other people, not the owner of the videos.
So there is any option that can unlock this? I can't figure it. I saw at help config, but there is no other option. At least seems so.
Thanks.
Well, you will need to pardon me if this is a dumb comment for I haven't seen or used the youtube website in years, so I don't really know if "Video Info" in mpsyt corresponds to the "author comment" on the website. I think it does, but I'm not sure. If it is so, then "i" will give it to you.
For instance, the video "Free Software Song (animación con subtitulos español)"
"i" gives, among other things ->
Free Software Song (animación con subtitulos español)
Uno de mis primeras animaciones en flash (año, 2002) para cerrar mi Multimedia Conference" de hackers.
----
"c" gives the users' comments, as you already know ->

Hi SuperTramp83!
In this case in your search "Free Software Song (animación con subtitulos español)" "i" (view information on video) is just brief description of the video by the author where "c" (view comments for video) only appears comment's users but not the author of the video. In this very case you showed there is no comment reply by the author of the video.
Now, for other examples try: "CUAL ES MI MISION PARA QUE NACI PARA QUE SIRVO - EL PODER INTERIOR " there you have on youtube site the replies from the author but on the "c" comment you only see comments from other users and not a single reply by the author himself. I know it because i tried on youtube and there the author answered some very important questions by users. It is like when i do "c" i only get questions and not answers... and answers is important too.
Thanks for your reply SuperTramp83 :)
Oh.. and by the way... there is also no subtitles/closed captions. Several videos on youtube have subtitles. On mps-youtube i cant have subtitles :\
For instance: "Curso de Java #01 - História do Java - Gustavo Guanabara" there is no subtitles when going by terminal. But on yt there are available. Subtitles are very important for me...
The part of closed captions is now solved :D
For those who needs to get subtitles via mps-youtube you need to download gcap. You can get it by apper/ synaptic etc.
Now retrieve the link via mps-youtube and then copy to other terminal gcap xxxxxx (that link you retrieved). Once downloaded open again with mps-youtube and the video program. Select this subtitle and there u go. :)
Still the comments section by authors is not solved.
Aha! I see, yeah, mine was just a guess, as I told you it's been a long while since I last saw their website, heh.
You can also do it with youtube-dl (subtitles) ->
youtube-dl --write-srt --sub-lang es https://www.youtube.com/watch?bkfjdsdfssjhfblabla
Try asking on IRC maybe for the author comments feature to be included in the next versions..
Supertramp what other website do you see instead of youtube. What are the alternative? I want to bee free from google, you see!
Muchas gracias
Mediagoblin, Takumi, but there is not much content there (compared to any of those giants, like yt, dm, vimeo etc).
Free from google? Is that even possible? :)
You can limit the amount of info they get on you. Not using their service in a browser is a good start. Even better if you get yourself a VPN and paste the yt links directly in a video player that supports it, in order to stream the vid (like say smplayer). Or you can download the videos using youtube-dl. That way (using a VPN and avoiding the typical potential "tracking issues" of a standard, default-settings browser) they don't even get your IP address. They get 0.
BTW youtube-dl is not only an excellent utility with many many options to use, but it also support a ton of websites.
