New forum for free software related topics that are not strictly Trisquel related

Hi all!
We've made some changes in the organization of these forums, to provide a better separation between Trisquel-related topics and support requests, overall free software/free culture/online privacy or similar topics and off-topic stuff. You'll find a new "General Free Software Talk" forum below the trisquel-users multilingual ones, and you can subscribe to its associated mailing list here.
We are aware that this change may cause some inconvenience at the beginning but we think that the resulting enhanced organization will make these forums more useful and welcoming for all. We'll also be studying some other measures to continue improving these tools for the Trisquel and overall free software community.
I'll be moving threads to the most appropriate forum after a while to give you all some time to read this notice and to subscribe to the freedom-misc mailing list if you want. Please contact me or reply below if you find any issue with the process.
Happy Hacking everybody!
How do I subscribe?
To be clear: It is more than OK to move my thread there.
Hi! you can put your e-mail address in https://listas.trisquel.info/mailman/listinfo/freedom-misc and then confirm your subscription with the link in the message that you'll receive. The link to the list administration interface is also visible in the forum description panel.
If I have a message in my inbox from trisquel-users, that message has since been moved to freedom-misc, and I respond without changing the cc line from trisquel-users to freedom-misc, will my response correctly appear in the freedom-misc forum, or will it start a new thread in trisquel-users? During this transition it would be nice to not have to go to the forum and double check the location of each thread before responding, but it would only be a short-term inconvenience so it's not a huge deal.
I don't think there's any reasonable way to fix this server-side. You already have the old emails, and your email client doesn't know that it's now supposed to be sent to a different email address. Just something to deal with I guess.
I'm afraid I haven't come up with a solution to automate this ideal behaviour.
I'll keep looking into it but most probably you'll have to change the address manually or continue the conversation once someone else has (either by manually changing the CC or by answering via forum).

No worries. This is the answer I expected. It's an extremely minor inconvenience that will fix itself in a few weeks. Thanks for all of your work. The new forum is a great decision.
Thanks to the forum mods for taking action on this. It's been clear for a while that the community gathered around Trisquel is keen to discuss many software freedom related topics, so many that these discussions were flooding the channel intended for Trisquel users seeking help with the OS itself. Both the Trisquel help threads, and the general software freedom threads, were and are valuable, so it's great to have a dedicated space for each. Thanks again to the Trisquel crew, and to everyone who makes this community such an engaging place to be.
Hi all!
One week after its creation and after fixing an issue with the mailing list synchronization, I've started to move some relevant threads to the General Free Software Talk forum.
Please report if you find any issue with this process.
Thank you all!
