I definitely am against most spying on people as they use the internet.

However, I spend hours one might say spying out every bit of content I want to see, and it's all free. Most of the time I don't buy anything, so if they can't sell my data, how can they pay for rent, labor, server time and whatever?

I have to pay someone to get hooked up so I have a bill from my ISP and I don't think that gives them the right to spy on me so I am paying for a VPN. I don't think googly eyes should be reading my email so I pay for my email also. I do not give any money to youlube, wikipedia, reuters, bbc or any of the countless other web sites I go to. BBC is supported by the people of England. Some kind of a tax I think.

So it seems like data mining has to be replaced by some sort of pay for use process. It's merely hypothetical because it's nearly impossible to stop data mining.

In an ideal world how would the internet be supported?
