What is it with these free software conferences where no one can figure out how to record a video properly and put online? Libreplant had these issues as well.

You know the rms stance:
As long as it's recorded without proprietary software it doesn't matter if the video exists or not ;)

Was Ruben's talk recorded with non-free software? Either way, what us the point of him giving a speech if no one sees it?

No, you got it wrong... it was a joke.
RMS repeats all the time that it doesn't matter how bad things work out with a piece of software as long as it's free.
So I said that the guys from libre planet didn't manage to do the recording done but they avoided proprietary software so it's a success.
A joke!

I agree that most of us doesn't have the opportunity to visit the conferences in person and that livestreams aren't the best way of providing the talks to the masses either because of the poor recording/encoding quality as we experienced it in the past, and now again.

One of the possible solutions would be, in my humble opinion, for Rubén to always ensure before his talks that "someone" makes a proper video recording (even a simple audio recording through microphone output should be sufficient enough). This time it looks like this have happened, so we just need to wait for the results.

As a side note, always do remember that Trisquel is 99% developed single-handedly by one person (Rubén), so this means he's extremely busy with the development at times (don't expect him to be perfect).

Are there any news yet about this talk? Any footage anywhere? I really would like to see it.

My guess is that they are too busy putting the finishing touches on T7, after that's complete then we might see it.

My opinion
If that is the case:
As a Trisquel and gnu/linux user, MR. RMS opinion is completly unfounded.
IT DOES MATTER to others, for THE recorded audio and VIDEO to EXIST! and be available to all the TRISQUEL users!

YET,I FEEL THAT THE KIND OF ATTITUDE IS COMPLETLY BIAS AND UNFAIR TO ALL TRISQUEL USERS.

That is a pressing issue! regardless, AND IT IS NO Joking matter.

My Question is: where is the link to that video or recording?

On the contrary, RMS's opinion is very well grounded because he takes
the long view. If FSF-backed projects are backed with nonfree software
the FSF's message (the ideas conveyed in these recordings) will be
undermined by their chosen methods. If the FSF relied on nonfree systems
for their recordings it would be all too easy to effectively criticize
along the lines of 'They can't do what they do without nonfree software'
in an attempt to keep people from talking about and working on software
freedom. Such distractions are to be avoided.

The FSF is explicitly biased in favor of Free Software for good reasons.
They want to make it possible for everyone to use exclusively Free
Software to do anything people want to do with computers.

J.B. Nicholson-Owens

I have to agree with you, only 80 percent. I understand clearly the "integrity of the FSF policies".

Yet, that should "NOT" hinder the broadcasting of the interview

Why?

Regardless, the type of PROPIETARY hardware, or software used to record the interview.

The recording could be extracted and re-published again using Libre software, FSF owns the rights to it.

That they choose not to do it, it is laziness on their behalf.

let's publish this video, what's the matter?

EDIT
I'm sorry, I think that this post of mine seems rude, it wasn't my intention, I just like to watch the video, if is not, we can survive.

You know, I really can understand that the upload of the video gets delayed for some kind of reasons, but why in the world is it so hard to drop a little note in this forum or in the blog or somewhere else, like "video takes another two weeks, sorry"??
Why is this so hard?
I have no understanding for this at all; honestly, I feel like being treated like an idiot.

There isn't one, people. Due to technical problems at the site there isn't one.

First LibrePlanet and now this one as well? I hate "technical difficulties". It's like a bad UHF station that is forced to sign off right after dinner and you miss your re-run of Night Gallery. (Yes, I'm that old.)

It still sucks never to be able to see Trisquel keynotes.

quantumgravity

At least we know the truth now... I don't understand why the trisquel developer refuses to communicate openly about the issues at the event and instead just keeps quiet though a lot of users were asking all the time for the video.

It was known to the public. I think he said it on IRC. IIRC, this is how I found out about the problems at the site.
