Hello everyone,

I've been testing Trisquel 5.5 and Trisquel 6.0 to see what of the two will be better for my daily use on my laptop (since my desktop doesn't have any problem with the 2, I am using Trisquel 6.0 on it) because of the Sound Problem on Trisquel 5.5 and the Slow Problem (https://trisquel.info/en/issues/7112) on Trisquel 6.0 (or 5.5 with an updated kernel).

And to do that, I've tested the 2 versions with the same thing in order to see what version will be better for what i do. But, when testing Abrowser, I've found an annoying problem (only existent in Trisquel 6.0 with Abrowser 17) : The scroll on almost every website is slower than on Trisquel 5.5 with Abrowser 16.

Did anyone already noticed this ? And if yes, did you solved it ? And how ?

Thanks in Advance,
Best Regards.

I've found that it is related to the Slow problem (because of the nouveau driver). I've tested with compiz and firefox is slow, mutter from Gnome3 it is the same, but without any composite (like while using openbox) or the nomodeset enable, this problems don't occur and firefox is fast again.

In FF prefs did you enable smooth scrolling?

Yes they are enable. This problem seems to have appeared since Firefox 17 or Ubuntu 12.04 since even on Ubuntu 12.10 the problem is here (at least with the nouveau drivers.. I won't try with the proprietary drivers as you may imagine).

Need to search a little bit more about this to see if it is only me.

Hello again,

Is there a way to see what happens when the charger is plugged in and puggled out ?

I want to know what happens in order to try to solve the problem (or disable it). Because I am forced to use Ubuntu 12.10 - Only Free Software - in my laptop since it is the only one without the sound problems and without the battery problems (waiting for a solution on Trisquel or the release of Trisquel 6.5).

Thanks in Advance,
Luis.

Hey!

I believe the charger triggers

/etc/acpi/events/ac and
/etc/acpi/events/battery

which in turn fire pm-powersave

so man pm-powersave should take you to the rabbit hole.

Good luck!

I really feel stupid when this happen... xD I use to go to that directory every day when i had my Optimus Laptop (in order to manage, control, and test the power management with the nvidia activated), but I forgot about it xD

Thank you :D I will see if I get any luck.

PS: I am crossing fingers for a fast release of Trisquel 6.0 in order to test the 6.5 release as fast as possible ! Unity on Ubuntu 12.10 is very good and has received a lot of improvements :D

I will report back to you if I manage to find anything.

Thank you once again ! That was the problem :D

Running "pm-powersave" to "false" solved the problem. Now that I know where the problem is comming from I will try to see how to solve it.

Good to hear that! :)

If we remembered all the things we've known, we'd be awfully smart...

Keep drilling!

It seems that the problem only occurs with Gnome and not with any other DE.

But, does someone know where I can find the image of Triskel 6.0 ? I would like to install it from scratch instead of downloading it from a current Trisquel 6.0 installation.

Thank for the link, but I was talking about Triskel and not Trisquel, the KDE version of Trisquel :D
