some problem after fresh install with Full Disk Encryption

Hello,

Yesterday I installed Trisquel with Full Disk Encryption onto my new X200, which I got at minifree, with libreboot on it.
I installed it with the graphical installer, since I didn't succeed with the text installer.

There are some questions:

1)
What exactly is the advantage in using the text installer to using the graphical one, as far as Full Disk Encryption/Partitioning is concerned?

2)
Where can I find a really (!) detailed Tutorial (maybe with pictures?) for installing it with Encryption (and for the necessary grub.cfg-change afterwards, because I am completely new to this BIOS), more detailed than the one on libreboot.org (http://libreboot.org/docs/gnulinux/encrypted_trisquel.html)? (Now click here, now chose that, then do that, ...)

3)
What could be the problem now, after install everything is fine. But: Everytime I start the laptop, it gets stuck at:

Unlocking the disk /dev/disk/..... (sda5_crypt)
Enter Passphrase: *Stopping cold plug devices
* Stopping log initial device creation

If I press CRTL-C here, I am asked to enter the passphrase, I enter it and I can continue normally and Trisquel is booting.

4)
How can I make the "speech-dispatcher" completely silent? I found it in the system preferences and turned it off, but everytime when being asked for my login password, it is "speaking" anyway.

I have more questions, but le it be those for now...

See https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/full-disk-encryption-install

Isn't the necessary passphrase to decrypt the drive at every boot the very reason to choose a full disk (rather than only a /home) encryption?

As for the speech dispatcher, you deactivated it from the "Accessibility" utility in the "System settings", right?

Hi,

I also found this guide.
Unfortunately it is not possible to (completely) use this with libreboot.

The Step "Decide if you want to install the GRUB boot loader to the master boot record."

is not applicable, since in libreboot the GRUB has to be stored differently.

Compare:
http://libreboot.org/docs/gnulinux/encrypted_trisquel.html

There especially the parts
"Install the GRUB boot loader to the master boot record"
and
"Booting Your system"

The speed dispatcher I set to zero volume in the sound menu. There it is 4 times, don't know why...

Follow http://libreboot.org/docs/gnulinux/encrypted_trisquel.html then.

Would you show us the window with the four speech dispatchers? That is strange. I thought you were talking about the screen reader, which can be deactivated with Alt+Super+S too (Super is the Windows key on most keyboards).

As someone who struggled a long time with my install, here's what I can tell you :
1) I remember trying the graphical install, but then switching to the text install, because I could see all the needed options easily.

2) try finding a Debian tutorial for full encryption install. I found one with pictures and step by step install (I'll see if I can find one again).

3) Ask on libreboot's IRC channel, they will help (check their website first, maybe it's an already solved error).
But you do have to input your password (twice), as Magic Banana said. You have the LUKS password(twice), then your normal user login and password.

4) I can't remember about the way to turn it off. Make a search on this forum maybe, I think I've read something about it.

5) about GRUB:

### Install the GRUB boot loader to the master boot record ###
Choose 'Yes'. It will fail, but don't worry. Then at the main menu, choose 'Continue without a bootloader'. You could also choose 'No'.
Choice is irrelevant here.
You do not need to install GRUB at all, since in libreboot you are using the GRUB payload (for libreboot) to boot your system directly.

This worked for me.

6) I don't know what a speed dispatcher is though. And since I have a netinstall, I'm not even sure I have a sound menu, so I can't really help here.

sorry for late answer
to 5)
Yes this is correct. But if You have a look at this:

"

Booting your system

At this point, you will have finished the installation. At your GRUB payload, press C to get to the command line.

Do that:
grub> cryptomount -a
grub> set root='lvm/grubcrypt-trisquel'
grub> linux /vmlinuz root=/dev/mapper/grubcrypt-trisquel cryptdevice=/dev/mapper/grubcrypt-trisquel:root
grub> initrd /initrd.img
grub> boot"

Then it becomes clear, that it is not so easy. I tried it, but failed :-(
